CHILDREN OF UGANDA

Sera`s Caring Place is a not-for-profit organisation in Jinja eastern Uganda. Sera`s provides shelter to vulnerable children and orphans and offers other community services. It provides medical care and has a medical outreach service for vulnerable people.

For the children Sera`s provides full bursaries to over 50 children and orphans which leads to them acquiring a good standard of education from good standard schools and universities in Uganda, namely, Wanyange Girls SSS, St. Moses Primary School, Kiira College Butiki, Holy Cross Lakeview SSS, Busoga College Mwiri, Busia SSS, Kamuli Progressive College, Kiira Primary School, Father Bodewig Nursery School and Makerere University. All of this has been successfully supported and facilitated by the funds raised from donations, contributions from members and fundraising.

Sera`s Caring Place supports their communities by providing counselling and guidance for career development with character building to the beneficiary members of the vulnerable communities. They also promote and equip the unemployed youth and school leavers with employable and marketable skills for them to become self-sufficient which reduces crime and gives them the skills.

It teaches through the training of entrepreneurial skills and attitudes, which enhances the productivity and competitiveness of the youngsters in the world of work throughout skilling and vocational workshops in different communities.

The organization though is now facing challenges mainly in raising funds to continue its valuable work and they have contacted the Robert Owen Society through Kakaire, a young volunteer worker with Sera`s Caring Place.

We are looking for local schools to link with Sera`s Caring Place to enable them to continue their varied work. Local schools may wish to have a virtual link with Sera`s Caring Place and grow mutual cultural links.‍‍
