BIG THINK COMMUNITIES
The Robert Owen Society has long been committed to helping communities become dynamic, resilient and sustainable. We have been seeking to achieve this for some 32 years. This has become a particular contemporary challenge in the isolated rural communities in the Borderlands.
We believe that when members of communities learn to connect with each other on the basis of shared values they begin to build healthy relationships. In a rapidly globalising world, independence, curiosity and resilience are key to long term thinking and survival. Of course we all have to be willing to do the tough routine development activities in the here and now so that we can create positive and sustainable projects for the future. Big goals often are impossible in the short term but with small methodical steps, almost anything is achievable.
In the Robert Owen Society we recognise the challenges currently facing our rural communities and we want to work with you to help you develop your ideas for sustainability into reality. We understand that planning and delivery can seem insurmountable. We appreciate that carving out time for long term thinking amidst the urgent matters of today whilst dealing with negativity from fellow citizens who want fast, short term results is profoundly difficult. So if you feel your community is currently facing a challenge and you think you may have some ideas on how to move forward please contact Chris Morgan, Secretary of the Robert Owen Society Chris@robertowensociety.org
